MSDN Oct. 2003 replace Jan. 2002

Hi All,

To save disk space, I want uninstall the MSDN Jan. 2002, which came with the
VS 2002, and install the Oct. 2003.
I'd like to know if the new MSDN works for the old VS 2002. I've read the
Readme.htm on the CD, but it doesn't mention this issue.

Thanks for any tip and kind regards,
Anony

2003 will automatically update your 2002 programs when you load them,
however it will not keep them in 2002 and still allow you to work on them.

After installing VS .NET 2002, I insert the MSDN Library April 2002 CD 1. After answering all of the questions, but just before installation begins, I get the following message box: Title: MSDN Library - April 2002 - Setup Wizard Text: Setup has detected that Microsoft Developer Network Namespace is configured for use within Visual Studio .NET. Would you like to replace it with MSDN

Hi. A couple of months ago, I ordered the Visual Studio .NET upgrade from Microsoft and installed it. Today, I just realized that I have both the 2002 and 2003 IDEs on my system. Did I do something wrong upgrading? I thought that the 2002 IDE would be upgraded and essentially become the 2003 IDE. I didn't realize that I'd have both IDEs on my system.

When I ordered my new laptop, Sony didn't offer Access 2003 in its bundles. Recently, I have begun to design Access databases using an copy of Access 2002 from my previous laptop. It works fine, but I would like to have all the office apps on the same version. So I have a few questions: 1) Is the file format the same as 2002? Can 2002 users read 2003 files? 2) What are the major reasons for upgrading to 2002 ?

I have just read that Microsoft has released the optimizing compiler that is included with Visual C++ .net 2003. I own a copy of Visual C++ .net 2002, and I was wondering if anyone knows if the '2003 Toolkit' can be easily integrated with the older '.net 2002' IDE... (i.e. is it easily possible to replace the libraries and compiler that is included in 2002 with the new ones?)

Why cannot MSFT publish correct/updated info in MSDN and KB? It is to MSFT's advantage to encourage us to migrate old code, and develop new code, with .NET, so they need to take extra care when publishing examples for us to follow. The following is a simple example of such an error. The MSDN library that ships with VS .NET has an article "creating Office

hi, I have a component that uses a database connection. In the finalizer I dispose the connection because I read in msdn the following: "A type must implement Finalize when it uses unmanaged resources such as file handles or database connections that must be released when the managed object that uses them is reclaimed."

Hi all I've taught myself C# 2002 using VS.NET 2002. I've recently brought myself an ASP.NET 2003 book. I will work through this ASP.NET 2003 using VS.NET 2002 and C# 2002. I don't fully understand the differences between the VS. NET 2002 and VS.NET 2003. Will I restrict myself in any way learning ASP.NET 2003 but only using VS.NET 2002 and C# 2002?

We are running an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL 7 back end. Our network guy is upgrading to Windows Server 2003 and wants to upgrade Office and SQL Server at the same time. We're moving to SQL Server 2005, and, since he already has licenses for Office Pro 2002, he wants to upgrade to that. I've been saying that we need to upgrade to Access 2003, not 2002, even if Office is kept at 2002. We are also looking to do a fair amount of...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
