Deploying a windows forms application via AD Grop policy

Hi

At my company we are deploying a .NET windows forms
application via Active Directory. Works nice. We have
had complaints about that the setup installs the
application for ALL USERS, including a shortcut in the
startup folder.

What I would like is for the application to install only
to the account which is logging in, that is the Active
Directory account.

Any hints warmly welcomed, best regards, AVO

I am using the built-in setup installer which comes with VS 2003. I am always having problems running the application on other machines other than my development machines with VS. It seems like most of the time it is a security/privilege problem. One time I succeeded to run the app by making the user a local administrator of the computer. My app only uses the standard 1.1 system assemblies. The other proprietary assemblies(COM interop...

Hello All, I've developed a Commerce Server application and am having deployment problems. The issue is not Commerce Server specific, so I'll ask here, since questions get answered here. The application is developed on a remote machine. My compiler runs locally, but the source files and destination is on the remote machine. The remote machine is running Framework 1.0.3705. This morning I PUP'd the Commerce Server site and deployed it...

I have a VB windows forms application that accesses a Microsoft Access database that has been secured using user-level security. The application is being deployed using No-Touch deployment. The objective in utilizing this new deployment method is to reduce the maintenance overhead as well as making it easier for my users to setup and run the application initially. I have VS 2002, Windows XP, Access XP(2000 format). He is my problem....

Hello all, Note: This is the full version of a Post that I inadvertently sent before it was complete. About a year ago I wrote a VB.NET 2003 solution that consists of a number of assemblies (1 EXE and 15 DLLS). As I recall, in order to deploy the solution to a testing server I simply copied the contents of the Bin folder in the development area where the compiled assemblies reside. Be patient with me here, because I haven't used...

Is there any way to save a VB 2005 created application as an .MSI install file? The only method I see is to publish as a .EXE. Curious because I want to push out an application with Group Policy. Thanks, Ryan

I am coding a .NET 2.0 application that needs to be able to run from a network share (intranet), but the security settings does not allow me to do this by default. How can I - in the installation program or by manual intervention afterwards - grant FullRights to the program? The program consists of three modules: WinEXE - a plain Visual C++ 32-bit .EXE file

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
