I know how to do this via Win32 API's, but curious about how to do it in
..net. Is there a way in the framework to change the system's locale?
Thanks,

Of course I meant the system's locale, not the current thread - I already
know how to do this. Right now I am just calling the API's, but would rather
have my code 100% in the CLR.

Hi,
I have generated resource files for a different language and
generated a satellite assembly for it, signed it and placed it in the
GAC. When I change the UI culture within the code the application
displays the correct form for the culture. However when I simply
change the language and locale settings in the control panel it doesn't
pick it up.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I'm trying to write a multilingual web site where the user could choose his language explicitely.
I have 2 flag, the user could click on the flag to change the culture.
The core of the logic goes in an HttpModule:
===========
public class LangModule : IHttpModule
{
public void Dispose() {}
public void Init(HttpApplication application)

Hi,
I am puzzled by the following and seeking some assistance to help me
understand what happened. I have very limited encoding knowledge.
Our SAP system writes out a text file which includes German characters.
1. When I use StreamReader(System.String filepath) without specifying an
encoding method, the German characters such as Ä are lost when I do a

Hi.
I have just seen that csv module, more exactly the Dialect class,
does not have any variable to specify the "floating point" character!
In portuguese this is ','. Not '.'. 3.1415 -3,1415.
I think this is also the case of other languages/countries.
If I am correct, i.e. if there is no such possibility, where can
I file a request for a csv change? Excel, for example, automatically
converts '.' to ',' and the separator from ',' to ';'.

When using unicode the case change works:
é
But when using the pt_BR.utf-8 locale it doesn't:
'pt_BR.utf-8'
('pt_BR', 'utf')

Hi! I'm trying to let the end-user select the language of the menues I'm showing him.
To do that I've got this Selector class that shows the end user a combo box, a label and a button. In the combo box the user selects the language (English,Spanish,French,..) and when he clicks in the button shows the label in the language selected.
This works fine but it's just one form, I need to change the language of all the menues in an application, so...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
