Visual Studio.NET 2003 takes more than 2 minutes to startup!

Help,

I reinstalled my laptop with the new Windows 2003 server, standard edition.
I also installed Visual Studio.NET 2003. And here it goes wrong! When I
start up Visual Studio, it takes more than a minute to load. On the same
laptop with W2K Server, VS.Net went much faster. What can cause this
problem? This is the sequence in which I installed my applications:

- Windows 2003 Server
- Winzip, PC Anywhere 11, MCAfee Virus Scan 7.11
- Adobe Acrobat Reader/Writer
- Macromedia Flash
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000
- Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2003.

I reinstalled VS.Net, but I got the same behavior...

kind regards...

I've inherited a program that was developed in Visual Studio and I'm having a problem with build times. The program is about 250,000 lines and I'm storing the entire project on a network drive. We've got gigabyte ethernet and it's a high speed raid array but it still takes about 5 minutes to do the smallest recompile and about 1 hour and 15 minutes to do a full rebuild (pretty annoying). I'd like to move the object and binary files to...

I'm currently experiencing a strange phenomenon: At my Office, Visual Studio takes a very long time to compile our solution (more than 1 minute for the first project). At home, Visual Studio compiles the same solution much faster (about 10 seconds for the first project). My home computer is only marginally faster than the one I have at the office (P4 2.53 vs. P4 2.4, same amount of RAM). On the slow machine, the CPU usage is very low,...

I have Visual Studio 6.0 stand-alone (with C++) and as part of Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6c. I am moving my development from a Win 98 SE machine w/2x 10 Gb HDD (each w/ 1Gb free), 768 Mb RAM to a 3.2 MHz Win XP Pro machine w/147 Gb HDD (121 Gb free) and 2 Gb RAM. Loading a particular project with Fortran code only with about 80 files and 750 Mb of source code on Win 98 takes 15 seconds until the editor is ready to use.

Hi there, I am a MS Access VBA programmer trying to get my feet wet using VB.net / SQL server. I have SLQ 2000/visual studio 2003 loaded and did get a SQL2005/visual studio 2005 software through the MS launch. I am now wondering how to setup my laptop so I can use theh two sets together (not at the same time of course). I have also been told there might be issues of interaction between framework

I recently upgraded to from Visual Studio .NET 2003 to Visual Studio .NET 2005. In Visual Studio .NET 2003 when I would select 'Build' it would add a *.dll with the name of the Project to a /bin/ folder in the same directory as the source code. However, in Visual Studio .NET 2005 when I selected 'Publish Web Site' and selected a target location to place it in, it placed the following files in it: All *.aspx files All *.html files

Hi All, I am using visual studio 2003 on a website I am developing on. I have it running inside a VM, and use IIS to host the website when I am viewing and debugging it. The problem is that when I recompile the project and then load up the site again with a browser it takes ages to load the start page (probably about 3 or 4 minutes).

Introduction This tutorial describes how to use Visual Studio to create a new C++ program, compile/run a program, resume work on an existing program and debug a program. It is aimed at the beginning CIS student who is struggling to get their programs working. I work in the computer lab at the college I'm attending and I see many students who don't know how to use the IDE for best results. Visual Studio automatically creates a number of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
