Dear all, I am writing to a C# program to connect to the telnet server and getting data; however, I know that I can use either TCPClient and Asyncronous Socket to do the program. However, I don't know which is better and why. Can any one tell me about this? Thank you for all of your help. Alex

Hi All, Following code is used to set multicast interface : IPAddress ipLan = IPAddress.Parse("..."); int iIP = (int)(ipLan.Address) ; objMCastSender.SetSocketOption(SocketOptionLevel.IP,SocketOptionName.Multica stInterface , iIP) ;

The help page for SocketOptionName says, toward the end: "Example The following example uses the Linger enumerated value to set the linger time of the Socket." However, the example does not show that. Instead it shows how to use Poll(). The example is also questionable because, if the socket is in the error state when the first call to Poll() to check for write status is made, that call will block indefinitely so, even if the socket...

The C# doc lists all the available SocketOptionName enumerators (on the SocketOptionName help page), but there doesn't appear to be a list of which option goes with what socket option level. It would be nice to have such a list. (Without it, I have to keep switching back to the Win32 API doc, which provides such a list.) From the code example on the SocketOptionLevel help page, I can see that SocketOptionName.SendTimeout goes with...

Hi, How can you set up the timeout values of the KeepAlive Socket option like you do using WSAIoctl and SIO_KEEPALIVE_VALS using C++ ? Searching about this I found several post of people using the int argument of SetSocketOption thinking it represents some timeout value, but I think it's wrong since 2 values are needed to set up the correct timeout...

title: asyncronous Socket and EndAccept() question: hi to all, I am working with a server that uses the sockets in a asyncronous way. When I want to STOP the server I do the following: - serverMainSocket.EndAccept(); - serverMainSocket.Shutdown(SocketShutdown.Both); - serverMainSocket.Close(); My problem is on the first instruction. I don't know what can I put as argument in the EndAccept().

Hi, SocketOptionName.KeepAlive is a bool or an int value? Is it "belongs to" SocketOptionLevel.Socket? What does value 0 means? Is that meaning always "keep alive", or never "send keep-alives"? And what does "Send keep-alives" mean anyway?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
