IF Then in a Where clause

I am new to mysql and am trying to write the following sql statement.

SELECT item, action, due_date, category
FROM maint_due
WHERE due_date Between Now() AND
IF Select dayofweek(now()) = 1 Then
(Now()+6)
Else If Select dayofweek(now()) = 2 Then
(Now()+5)
Else If Select dayofweek(now()) = 3 Then
(Now()+4)
Else If Select dayofweek(now()) = 4 Then
(Now()+3)
Else If Select dayofweek(now()) = 5 Then
(Now()+2)
Else Select dayofweek(now()) = 6 Then
(Now()+1)
END IF

I am unable to get the correct syntax to compile.
Any help?
