Order by slow on one machine, fast on another one

Hi everybody!

I guess the subject really states my question.
I have a relatively simple query where I'm using
an order by clause. The tables participating in
the query have no more than ~300 records each.
Yet on one machine it is extremely slow while
on another one it is normally fast. But when
I omit the 'order by', it becomes fast on both
machines.

I have compared the MySQL version, MySQL variables,
cpu and memory of both machines. They're all
the same. Where else could I look?

thanx a lot,
Jaanus
