Hi there,
I've been searching for about 6 hours to get a problem solved.
I installed MySQL 4.1.7 on the Debian web-server.
Normally this worked:
insert into logbook (userid,count,d of,aircrid,type aircr,departure ,destination,de ptime,arrtime,r emarks,nrto,nrl dg,seland,melan d,class1,class2 ,night,actinstr ,siminstr,flins tr,crss,asflins tr,dual,pic,tot dur)
VALUES ('1082213471',' 582','2004-11-22','PHUSJ','DV 20','EHAM','EHA M','10:00','11: 35','TEST','1', '1','00:45','', '','','','','', '','00:45','',' ','00:45','00:4 5');
Now, I get an error. And I think I know where the problem is. It has
something to do with the charsets and collation.
I surfed on the internet for hours, but could not find how I could
solve this error 1064:
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use
near 'dual,pic,totdu r) VALUES
('1082213471',' 582','2004-11-22','PHUSJ','DV 20','EHAM','' at line 1
The collation in the tabel is set to latin1_swedish_ ci.
The characterset is set to utf8.
When I change that (using phpmyadmin) to latin1, it still stays on
utf8.
I changed collation in the table of every row to utf8_general_ci , but
that did not work, too.
PLEASE HELP. I do not know anything I must do.

I must work with phpMyAdmin 2.6.0-pl3 installed on a client's Windows NT
web server. I've not previously encountered options for charset and
collation using phpMyAdmin, and am not sure what to set "MySQL
connection collation" for English-US type usage.
The default MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
I didn't notice this until exporting a backup, which for different
tables is giving me different "CHARSET=latin1" values.

Hello,
I recently upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1. I've spent the last few days
reading up on charsets since I never really thought about it when I used
4.0. I thought I had most of it figured out, but then I saw this in
phpMyAdmin and am as confused as when I started:
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: utf8-unicode-ci (in a dropdown box)

Hi, I'm using mysql 4.0.18 on a web server with PHP 5.1.1 and I'm trying to
pass from the iso-8859-1 encoding to utf8, but I'm still confused about
many questions.
With which encoding data is saved in the DB when data is generated by PHP?
Does it depend to the charset of the php page? And if the string is
inserted in a page by the user in a form and then inserted in the database?
There is any setting of mysql, or any property of the...

Hello,
I have a problem. I've linked MySql server to MsSql, in MySql I have a
table with Latvian data(character set is ucs2, ucs2_general_ci) and
the problem is that when I use openquery to read data from MySQL
server, some characters are not translated correctly! I receive
question symbols instead of Latvian special characters.
Maybe someone had this kind of problem with collation?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
