Can MySql have multiple datadir's ?

Hi, we have several dozen clients and it would be nice to have a
seperate folder structure for each one, as we zip up data and send it
off to them and we can't have the possibility of accidently sending
other clients data.

We can have a seperate database for each client, but what would be
really nice is to be able to have several different mysql "data"
folders (one for each client) but have MySql be aware of all of
them...

Is this possible?

Cheers,

Tony.

Tony, in Linux you can have data bases in diff. directories, and
manage that thru symbolic links. Search for "mysql symbolic link"
on google/SE.

Hi there, I want to do something ridiculously simple and naturally MySQL is presenting me with problems that the manual doesn't even hint at. Platform is Debian Linux 2.4.21 All I want to do is change the datadir in /etc/mysql/my.cnf from /var/lib/mysql to /DB. I attempted this as follows:

I am a relative newbie to MySQL. I had a Postfix+Courier+MySQL mail server running for several months. It took me a week or so to get it up and running in September. Now, I did a clean upgrade to Mandrake 9.2 and am reinstalling everything. MySQL is kicking my ass and I can't seem to get past it to install everything else. I have it installed and I can start the server through Webmin, but the process runs away -- I get a series of...

I really need some help with this. MySQL will not start on boot despite everything I've done to make sure that it is set to do so. When I start it as root from a terminal with "/usr/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &" I show several mysqld procs. and one mysqld_safe, but I can't connect: # ps -aux| grep mysql Warning: bad syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'? Hi gang: I'm experiencing a problem with MySQL -- I updated MySQL from version 4.1.0 to 4.1.10 and now when I login as root it doesn't show all the databases I should have access to, nor it doesn't recognize me being logged in as root (via CURRENT_USER().) Here it is, line-by-line. Inline comments are denoted by '//'

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
