Hello everyone, I am in the process of implementing an internal Certificate Authority on a client's network. The CA will issue certificates to several intranet web apps that will be accessible to remote users. I would like to programmatically add the Root CA cert to the users' Trusted Root CA store. I have reviewed dseveral articles offering example code on how to achieve this using the CEnroll ActiveX control, incluing MS KB...

I'd appreciate any feedback on http://www.elac.bc.ca/ particularly in regards to the stylesheet. http://www.elac.bc.ca/style.css only has one line: @import "elac.css"; so the 'real stuff' is in: http://www.elac.bc.ca/elac.css The CSS has been validated, but that doesn't mean I've done things using 'best practices'.

I am having some issues adding user logins to SQL Server. When I search for users in Active Directory from Security->Logins->New Login, I can search for and add users using the short name (samaccount, ex domain\abcde). However, when I search for users using their CA name (ex. domanin\firstname.lastname), the user is not found. Is there some setting that needs to be activated in SQL Server to see the CA name as well as the samaccount...

I've dealt with blue screens that frequently occur while developing in MS Access (really bad in Access 97, not quite as bad in later versions of Access). Finally, I had a blue screen that mentioned a driver: Vetefile.sys, and I tracked that down to CA Anti-virus. After searching on google, I tried a suggestion of disabling the real-time AV scanner, and have yet to encounter a blue screen while developing. I know I should just ditch CA, but...

For some reason my application now requires that I "Sign the ClickOnce manifests". I don't know that it ever has before. I clicked the "Create Test Certificate" and after a reinstall everything is hunky dorey. Now I am trying to obtain a certificate that is "trusted" and I don't know how to go about doing that. I understand that my temporary certificate will expire in a year, I'd rather go through the reinstall now rather than wait a...

I am about to DCPROMO a server which is also the CA but i need to keep the server name as it is still required as a member server. I have read MS documents that state I have to rename the new DC to be the same as the old one. Is this the case or is it possible to have the new server name as the CA ??

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
