Error accessing MS Access table linked to MySQL

Hello

In order to perform a hetrogeneous join (I think that's what they're called)
between MySQL and another database, I've created an Access database
containing linked tables from each datasource.

I create the linked tables without any problems, clicking on "save password"
before selecting the desired tables. I can then access both tables fine from
within the Access GUI.

The problem starts when I then try to access this data from my ASP.NET web
application - classic ASP works fine but .NET gives me...

ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] ODBC--connection to
'MyDSN' failed.

From then on, the Access database remains locked (.LDB file in the same
directory) and I get a similar error when I run my ASP page, which
previously worked.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I may not help, but what the heck...

1) when you say "access this data" do you mean accessed the linked table
through odbc?
if so, do you access the mysql linked table(only) or can you access the
"other" database(only) with success?
Can you create an excel spreadsheet, link it with odbc with access, and then
try to access that from .net?
is the mysql odbc connector an older version? I would also check mysql odbc
versions for any .net "unlikeabilitie s"

I want to use MS Accesss as a front end for an existing MySQL database. Since Acceess doesn't have the same data types, eg. ENUM, am I tied to the smaller subset of types supported by Access? I'm assuming I have to duplicate the MySQL schema within Access then link the resulting tables. Garry

I recently had a Microsoft Access 97 database corrupt on me. The setup is a split database (front end/back end) setup with about 10-15 users. This is the first corruption in something like a year. The database has about 25 tables, and the total size is about 15MB, after a compact. The front end sits on users Windows 2000 Professional desktops, and the file server is a Windows 2000 Server. I've been thinking of migrating the back end,...

Hi all, While working on an Access UI to a MySQL database (which should be a reasonable, low-cost, flexible interface to the DB, better than web-based, much less costly than a full-fledged .NET app or so.... is it?), I tried measuring the bandwith consumed by the Access/MyODBC/MySQL link, which came out to be, er, quite high. I fancied it would be interesting to look at the queries Access throws at MySQL through the ODBC link, so I...

Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
