I've got a table of about 400,000 records but when I transfer it from Access
to MySQL, the ODBC connection dies around 3,000 records or so (or about
3-5mins) with this error:
ODBC -- call failed
Lost connection to MySQL server
during query (#2013)
Once this error occurs, the table and uploaded records are removed from

Dear All:
I'm using MyODBC 3.51.06 and MySQL 4.0.18.
My table has a mediumblob field, but I can't update/insert data larger than
64K. The test application is created by VC6 appwizard, here is the test
code:
m_pSet->GetODBCFieldInfo(2, fieldinfo);
n = fieldinfo.m_nPrecision;

When importing data into MS SQL Server 2000 from a MyODBC (v3.51) data
source using Data Transformation Services, special characters like öäüéàè
are not imported correctly. However, when the MyODBC data source is used in
any other program like Access, Excel etc. it works fine.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Any hint to solve this problem
would be very much appreciated!

I store my connect string in the viewstate and open and close the SQL
database in every function or sub-routine call. Is there a better method of
opening the database when the ASPX page opens and cleanly closing it when
the page exits? I guess the on open part is easy, but how do I know that
the page closes so that I can be sure to close out the database connection?
What happens if I do a server.transfer from any of the pages? Do I...

Anyone with any experience with MyODBC 3.51 linking MySQL tables to MS
Access 97 please tell me how I can clear the miscellaneous, failed
setup attempts from under the Machine Data Source tab on the Select
Data Source window?
Everytime I clicked "NEW", trying variations of configuration options
in hopes of making it work resulted in a new Machine Data Source being
set up. Now I have to look at all the failed ones along with the one...

Hello All,
Some time ago, I implemented a data access layer that included a simple
connectin pool. At the time, I did it all by myself: I created N
connections, each connection associated with a worker thread that would
execute the db commands. The pool was fixed and all the connections
were created when the db access class was instantiated. The
connections remained opened during the whole execution. If a connection
was not available...

I am using ftplib in some code that does exactly what you would expect.
It ftp's files. Its running inside a service running on windows xp
and windows 2003 servers, approximately 20 installations each
installation sends between 100 and 1000 files per day. Occasionally the
process will hang completely and the only way to restart the service is
to kill the pythonservice.exe (via End Process in Task Manager) service
and start it.
I have...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
