myODBC command syntax for SELECT statement...

I'm trying to do what I thought was a fairly simple thing, select a group of
records from a mySQL database.
I'm not much of an SQL guy. The syntax I would use for Microsoft SQL is
shown on the "query =" line.
A myODBC error message indicates this is not supported syntax.
Can anyone help me?

{ ADO Startup Values and Creation using the .Open method}

{Create a COM object reference to ADO Recordset.}
recordset = COM_CreateObjec t("ADODB.Record set");

{ Open a Recordset }
query = "SELECT * FROM t_course_date
WHERE(modified> =CONVERT(DATETI ME,'1999-07-31 00:00:00',102)) ";
("modified" field above is a mySQL field name)

recordset.Open( query, 'connection id', adOpenDynamic,a dLockOptimistic ); <--
This statement fails...

Thanks
Chris R.

With command-line interface ( 3.23.37, UNIX Socket ) all is well with column aliasing. However, column aliases disappear in Excel, over ODBC, when there are multiple (joined) tables in the query. I run the following query with aliased columns with CLI: select table1.c1 as 'pet category', table1.c2 as 'item', table1.c3 as 'quantity', table2.c2 as 'attendant' from table1 left outer join table2 on (table1.c1=table2.c1);...

Hello, I am using MyODBC from VB and I want to submit a batch of insert statements in one call from my App. This is more efficient than making multiple calls from code because of the communication overhead. If I send a batch multiple statements separated by ; or ; + newline I get syntax errors pointing at the start of the next statement.. If I fire each statement one at a time with the ; at the end there's no problem.

Per subject - I realize I can copy/paste a line at a time into an interactive session when I'm trying to debug, but was wondering if there is any tool out there that allows me to copy sections of working Python scripts to paste into my interactive console and let those run so I don't have to copy line-by-line. Not sure if iPython would meet that criteria or not or even if such a beast exists. It would be helpful for debugging some of my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
