Greetings, I am working on a project and we need to write a conversion script to initialize a new field on a table. The number of records on this table is on the order of millions so routine selection and update takes a long time. I am tasked with writing a pl/sql proc that utilizes array processing to update the column.

I have serveral databases that I want to combine in order to manage the databases more efficiently. - I'm currently using MySQL 4.1.12 and I'm currently testing 5.0.14 - I have a databases for each user account. - Each database has the same schema and entity relation model.

Hi, first time posting to this group, but I have followed advice and examples for several months, so thank you. I work for a small telecommunications company. I have a simple Orders database that has an Orders table to track a sales order, using OrdersID as the PK. I have a related one-to-many table called OrderDetails, with the OrdersID as a FK, which shows all the products sold with that order. Then I have an Update table, in a...

The short question is why does this: select to_tsvector('default', coalesce(name, '') ||' '|| coalesce(description, '') ||' '|| coalesce(keywords,'')) from link_items; give different results than this: update link_items set linksfti=to_tsvector('default', coalesce(name, '')

Here's one that should probably have the sub-heading "I'm sure I asked this once before, but ...". Two users are both looking at the same data, from a database. One user changes the data and commits it. How does the other user get the updated view without polling for changes? Is there some sort of callback mechanism that can be set up on the dataset or connection? TIA

Hi, I'm using stored procedures in DB2 UDB 8.1.2. In this stored, I execute a select for update command, opening a cursor. Then I update the rows using fetch and current of. The problem is that I want to return the rows for my Java application. But if I set the cursor of the select for WITH RETURN, I get the values, but I cant execute the update. If I dont use WITH return, I execute the update, but I cant get the result set. Any ideas.

I don't care how one suggests I do it, but I've been searching for days on how to implement this concept. I'm trying to use some kind of grid control (doesn't have to be a grid control, whatever works best) to display a dropdown menu of fields populated from table tblInvoiceData. This control also includes a textbox which the user can input a value. These two columns are side by side and not in a vertical layout. The user then clicks on...

I'll pulling my hair out on this one and would be so appreciative of any help. I am creating a data entry form to enter results of a student survey. There are 40 questions on the survey. The first 7 have to do with respondent information like grade, class and age. I have those in a table with a PK of RespondentId, which is autonumbered. Questions 8-40 all have the same format. For these questions I have a table set up with the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
