Question: using Visual Studio.NET

Hi Everybody,

1- I am trying to upsize an access database to my MySQL server on my
website. I tried to get connected within access and failed. Please advise. I
am using Win XP as the operating system and MS Office XP Pro.

2- How to connect a Visual Studio.NET project to a MySQL data base located
on a MySQL server on a web. I tried to establish a connection with the
server from within VS.NET project using th normal procedure, but failed. I
could connect to a local SQL server. however I need to use MySQL server on
my website. I have the IP address, User ID and Password of the server.
Please advise. I am using VS.NET 2003.

Many thanks.

T. Rady

Excuse the crosspost, but this thread gets much more traffic than the mcsd one does. Should I expect to see questions pertaining to using the VS.NET IDE, and IDE-specific filetypes, on the exam? Or can I safely develop in a non-MS IDE (such as WebMatrix or #Develop)? The reason I ask is because the MSPress books devote quite a bit of...

I'd like to purchase Visual C# .Net for learning purposes only since it's a lot cheaper than Visual Studio (note that I'm a very experienced C++ developer). Can someone simply clarify the basic differences. Ok, Visual Studio has C++, VB and J++ thrown in plus some extra bells and whistles (I already have some minimal experience) but are both...

I have a big Visual Studio class library project from which I create an assembly. This assembly for example might contain 100 public entry points (for example custom server controls) and a load of shared back-end library code that they use. I now have a need to create 2 new separate small assemblys from the same code base, with one public...

I'm confused about the proper use and usefulness of namespaces. I beleive I understand the purpose is so the developer can put classes within namespaces to essentially organize your code. And I understand that you declare your intention to use a namespace within a page through the "Inherits" attribute. I know that using "Inherits" isn't...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
