I'm looking for an easy way to use mysql from user (no root, no mysql
system account) space. I don't want the user of my application to have
to use a password to connect to the database. I want to have multiple
databases to differentiate between programs.
Is libmysqld the way to go?
Is a separate mysqld process more efficient?
Does libmysqld do proper locking if accessing from various processes the
same table at the same time?

Hi
I am running MySQL 4.0.13 with my-medium.cnf (attached) on a Solaris 8, 4x450
Mhz, 4gb RAM. All my tables are InnoDB. Currently my ibdata1 is 1.8 gb. I have
about 1 gig space left on the same partition. Also it is excruciatingly slow
now. How do prevent the ibdata1 from filling up the disk partition ? How do I
increase the speed on my MySQL? Please help.
port = 3306

Hi,
I have a strange problem with innodb tables. I have about 10 innodb
tables, a few of which can have tens of thousands of entries. These
huge tables are clean up regularly.
But the size of ibdata1 remained same even after the tables were
dropped. Funny thing is that as new entries are added into the newly
created tables, the size of ibdata1 increases. And eventually exhausts
the disk space.

Hello,
I have a client (customer) who asked the question : "Why would I buy and
use UDB, when MySql is free?"
I had to say I was stunned. I have no experience with MySql, so I was
left sort of stammering and sputtering, and managed to pull out something
I heard a couple of years back - that there was no real transaction
safety in MySql. In flight transactions could be lost.

I'm pretty much a newbie on mysql, and I need some help.
I am running mysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.24, for portbld-freebsd5.4
(i386) on a server hosting an active website.
The site's developer uses his own php shopping cart to receive customer

The configuration was done via cPanel with no external modifications -
which produced no protests when built, ran and connected with no

I am using MySQL 5.0 with a number of innodb tables whose ibdata files
are growing quite quickly and filling up the /var partition (file is
/var/mysql/ibdata1). Earlier on I followed instructions in the docs to
create a new ibdata file on a bigger partition
/disk2/var/mysql/ibdata2) and set that to autoextend instead.
However I would like to reclaim the disk space on /var by moving the
existing ibdata1 file to /disk2/var/mysql/ibdata1....

Folks:
We have a web-based app that's _really_ slowing down because multiple
clients are writing their own private data into a single, central
database. I guess the previous programmer did things this way because it
made things easy. Well, I'm the person that has to put up with
the long-term headache.
Anywho, someone at work wants things sped up, so what I'm looking
at doing is this for each client:

Hi,
I have 10GB of harddisk space and now the harddisk space remaining 2GB because of the IBData1 size too big. As I'm check in the administrator tool. There is no any option to reduce or delete some data in IBData1 file. Any option I can move it out from this harddisk and put in another harddisk. e.g. remote machine but the scenario to reduce it size only the mainpoint looking to. Even though it successfully move to another harddisk. It will...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
