Hi everyone,
Quick question here, for MySQL Version 3.23.47... I'm wondering if
it's possible to enable bin-logs on a given database without
restarting MySQL?
Say I have this situation, Database binary logging for database Dba is
in my.cnf like this "binlog-do-db=DbA"

Is there now a way within MySQL to log to syslog? I was reading an
archived email conversation between Sinisa Milivojevic and Vincent
Stoessel in which they seemed to indicate that there was no need to log
to syslog. As Vincent only had a request for timestamps in the error
log, Sinisa simply satisfied that demand and moved on.

I am trying to create stored procedures in MySQL. Does anyone have a
suggestion on a good IDE to use. I have been working with the MySQL
Query Browser but it generates errors very often and is shut down by
Windows. When I make changes to my procedure, it doesn't seem to
always change what is being executed. Furthermore, sometimes the
procedure just disappears from my database. I am starting to think
that the stored procedure...

is it possible that due to OS crash or mysql itself crash or some e.g.
SCSI failure to lose all the data stored in the table (let's say million
of 1KB rows). In other words what is the worst case scenario for MyISAM
backend?
Also is it possible to not to lose data but get them corrupted?

We are using apache ibatis with our MySQL 5.0 database (using innodb
tables), in our web application running on Tomcat 5. Recently we
started getting a number of errors relating to
java.sql.SQLException: Deadlock found when trying to get lock; Try
restarting transaction message from server: "Lock wait timeout
exceeded; try restarting transaction";

Mysql is filling my /var partition because the log limit doesn't seem
to be respected.
I've tried many different settings in /etc/mysql/my.cnf but nothing
works.
Logrotate is not enabled/configured. I just want mysql to use a maximum
of, let's say, 1GB of my /var partition

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
