Menus in Excel 2007

5 New Member
Hi,
I recently switched from Excel 2003 to 2007, and can't find some of the tools in new menu system.
Can anyone tell me where to find tools for form controls and Active X controls?
I know how to add them to Quick Access Toolbar, but is it possible to add it to the ribbon?

Why it's not there?!

Thanks for help.

Why it's not there?!
Because M$ in their wisdom have decided to completely change the menu layouts in 2007. Completely unnecessary and very confusing.

Here is a virtual environment which shows Excel 2003 layout. Hover over any command on the menu to see how to find it in 2007 and click on it to see a demonstration. A lot of what you are looking for can probably be found under the Microsoft Office Button.

This webpage will give some basic instruction on the Microsoft Office Button and the how to use the Quick Access Toolbar. You will see also that the last paragraph on that page links to an xls file which provides tips for customizing.

Hopefully some of these links will help you out. Unfortunately we are all going to have to relearn the wheel with this new release.

Thanks Mary,

For some of the features I find the new layout quite handy, but like you say you have to learn again what's where - it's really annoying!
But changind the menus is the one thing, but removing some of the features - like those I described above - have no sense at all and only makes users life more difficult. I know you can get those commands displayed in quick access toolbar, but it's not right - this suposed to be only for easier access not the only way to get things working! You still should be able to modify main menus as well like it is in programs like AutoCad and others..

Someone in Microsoft should look at it and make MS programms more user friendly!

Thanks for the links anyway.

Cheers

You're welcome.

It's even worse for developers than for users.

Making the VBA editor "user friendly" is the worst of it. How you're supposed to find anything in there I don't know and navigation is a nightmare. Please M$ bring back the old editor at least.
