Hello everybody!
I am a new user of Python and of Pythons IDLE ( on Windows Vista ).
My problem with IDLE is that after executing a saved file for a few times ,
i get a "Socket" error , and i cannot run anymore scripts. Is there a simple
solution to that , other than restarting my computer?
Thank you all in advance!!!

PythonWin has been my favourite IDE for quite a while. When one right clicks on a .py file in the Windows Explorer, among the options are Open and Edit. The former is the default and executes Python, with the selected script. The latter activates the PythonWin editor, with the selected script. Since, most frequently, I wish to edit the...

I've written a pretty big wxPython script, and I thought I'd split the source into a few files. I'm going to have a main.py file which includes global defs, wxApp initialisation code, mainWindow() etc. and then each file will include a GUI class (which just happen to be a wxNotebook tab each). I'm having trouble accessing the imported...

Okay I tried some profiling, but am uncertain about the results I'm getting. They confuse the hell out of me. I have a test program (see below) that essentially has two loops that get called repeatedly. One that is an idle wait loop, and one that is a busy-wait CPU hogger. I wanted to see what profiling results that would give. The total...

I'm having trouble with opening the IDLE and running programs. Every time I try to open it, it says: 1. Socket error: Connection refused 2. IDLE's subprocess didn't make connection. Either IDLE can't start a subprocess or personal firewall software is blocking the connection. Point is, I allready entered python as an exception to my...

Here's an exercise I was doing to guess a number from 1-100. Just for fun (ha ha) I decided to add some error checking too, and now when I run it, the DOS prompt flashes real quick and disappears. At first, I had just the top try/except block and not the second one, and that worked (as far as it would work), but after adding the second...

Hi, In the IDLE, I can't get most shortcut keys that are listed next to the menu items to work. For instance, under the Format menu item only the shortcuts for "indent region" and "undent region" work. If I highlight some text and use Shift+3 to comment out the region I highlighted, the code is erased and I get the # symbol. When I use...

Hello, I am testing Python 3.0a5's handling of unicode strings. Since SPE is not yet for Python 3.0, I have begun to write in IDLE 3.0a5. I have a source code which IDLE 3.0a5 cannot parse, but Python 3.0a5 can: #!/usr/bin/python # -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
