Programming hard disk and dma

1 New Member
Hello All

I am currently programming my own os to run a few computers that will eventually run some mechanical gadgets. Unfortunately the programs are getting rather large and I will need to start using dma soon to read them.

My question is... Is there a standard dma channel the hard disk uses or is there a way to get or set this information in the controller. I am using the ata command set and can't seem to find anything in the specs on how to do this.

Thanks
