If I have an MySQL database on my local w2k, how do I transfer it onto my
ISP server?
The ISP gave me the name of an empty MySQL database they set up for me, the
username and the password with no further explanations.
I came here from ASP/Access where I was just uploading a mdb file into my
webspace.
But with MySQL there should be a different procedure, should it not?

Situation:
I have to connect with my Windows 2000 server using VS.NET 2003 and C# and
connect to a remote Linux server at another company's office and query their
XML file. Their file may be updated every hour or so. How can I do this
easily? I would like to use secure communication even encryption if
possible. I would query and insert locally only the newest records found in
that XML file to an xml or MS access db.

Up to this point, our application has been using Windows File Sharing to
transfer files to and from our application document repository. This
approach does not lend itself toward a secure environment and so we are in
the process of imposing a WebService gateway between our application client
and the repository.
(As a starting point, the WebService won't be a richly featured application
server; business rules are still implemented in the...

Tried this on microsoft.public.access.gettingstarted - no response -
perhaps more appropriate here.
I'm not a database user, simply helping someone get started with a new
computer.
The old computer (win98se) runs a database in MS Access 97 pro, with
all the attendant permissions etc. I can work on the database without
problems, once I've opened the file with the requisite user name and

I always read about how you need to set certain file permissions (for
cgi files, for example), but it's never been clear to me *how* you do
this. I know you can run the line
chmod 755 scriptname.py
but *where* do you run this? Is this done on your personal system, or on
the server? What if you are using Windows? If it's done on the server,
how do you do it?

This seems easy but I have been asking tcl and python IRC chat all day
and no one gave an answer.
I have 100 servers which need a new backup server added to a text file,
and then the backup agent restarted.
If I have a list of the servers, all with same root password, and the
connection is ssh.
How do I connect to the server, cat the line to the config file, stop
adn start the agent, and then do same to next server in list and
iterate...

Hi,
i'm building an web application for anonymous users. They can take a look in
the website, nothing more. In order to perform other actions, the anonymous
user must be logged. So i create an aspx page with the CreateUserWizard
control. The user can fill his username, password etc ....
My problem is: when an user fills everything and clicks on button "create an
account", nothing happens (no error, but no user account created).
I...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
