PHP counter that will check availability of IP address

I need to create in php counter that will check the availability in javascript ajax if IP is alive or not else exit(0);

The counter will count till 10 and then do the next step in the code

so you want to know, if a certain IP is still "connected"? (which doesn’t make a lot of sense in a stateless protocol like HTTP).

Hi again,
So my network is ptpluplu.biz, on my promotion page i don't have any counter. The user is been credited as the page appears, i need to have the option to change time of user to get credits after certain time.
The promotion page is written on php.
I had some suggestions of how to do that, ajax and javascript should do the deal, you see im not a programmer.

Don't try to use user IPs. Users change the IPs all the time and usually don't make available their real IPs anyway. If you really want to track users in a reliable way then ask the users to log in, record their login and logout times and then do giveaways based on that.
