PDF/Javascript

Hi, I have a question I hope someone can answer, it is probably easy for someone other than myself. I have recently created a PDF form and I want it to do something and I believe the only way to do it is to use the program script. I did it in Infopath and assumed I could in ADOBE. Here it is

I have a text box that I want to be able to create a rule (condition) that if say 1234 is entered into the textbox and after hitting enter a name appears say in blue font like DOG. In infopath I used the Rule/validation and created a rule that if it contained 1234 the action would be that the value = DOG

I am assuming since I cannot find the same option in ADOBE (7.0 Designer) that I have to code it, and there I am a complete idiot... so any help would be appreciated.
thanks
