By any chance, anyone got a rounding routine that does a work around the VB
"round" bug?
I still find it amazing that a company as large as Microsoft would put out a
math package that is so problematic.

Hi
I have a double that i want to round to a certain number of decimal places
this is the code i use
Return Math.Round(mdNumber, mbDecimalPlaces)
mbDecimalPlaces is the number of decimal places that i want, but it doesn't
use them with two decimal places i still get 0.0 or 9.9

From previous postings, I assume that the round method of the Math object
leaves too much to chance, and should not be used. It has also been
suggested that rounding be done by converting the number to string - then
use string manipulation.
So - with that in mind, please check the validity of the following code:
// the args: n is the number to round, and x the number of places
function roundNtoXplaces(n, x){
// move the decimal over x...

Hi all,
Math is not my strongest area so forgive me if I use some of the wrong
terminology.
It seems that scientific notation is immune to rounding errors. For
example:
(4.98 * 100) + 5.51 // returns 503.51000000000005, rounding error!
4.98e2 + 5.51 // returns 503.51, correct!

Lets assume all calculations are done with decimal data types so things
are as precise as possible.
When it comes to the final rounding to cut a check to pay dividends for
example in VB rounding seems to be done like this
3.435 = 3.44
3.445 = 3.44
Dim decNbr1 As Decimal

Hi
Does any body know, how to round a double value with a specific number
of digits after the decimal points?
A function like this:
RoundMyDouble (double &value, short numberOfPrecisions)
It then updates the value with numberOfPrecisions after the decimal

Hello
I am creating some crystal reports (for visual studio 2005) based on the content of certain .NET objects. I'm doing this in .NET 2.0.
For one of them I'm using a Cross-table to summarize the information of a bunch of objects. The actual data is numeric. Since these reports are meant to be flexible number formatting must be configured as defined by the requirements.
For example, sometimes the values will have to be rounded to 5...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
