Why we are calling System.gc() method to garbage collection of unused object, if garbage collection is automatically done in Java by daemon thread in background process with regular interval?

hai sajitha,

Invoking System.gc( ) does not guarantee gc thread to run always. It is a request made for the thread to clear memory n release resources.

Gc will take place periodically and if we want to release the objects unreferenced now, we can make an explicit call. but, it is not mandatory.
