5.0 Generics

I've just started trying some of the features of jdk 5.0. I'm trying to use
generics to make a Spring Controller more type-safe.

In the pre-5.0 code I had the following code:

Map myModel = new HashMap();

I need to use a String as the key and various types of Objects as the value
when adding entries into myModel.

Can anyone out there tell me the best way to genericize that declaration?

I tried:
Map<String,?> myModel = new HashMap<String,?>();
but the compiler (at least the one in Eclipse 3.1M4) doesn't like it.
