I keep getting this error when running my Java Apps on
Resin.
java.net.SocketException: Can't assign requested address
Does anyone know what is the cause? I have tried checking
if the IP address and port has been used...they are all free.
Resin running on HP UX.
Can't advise on Resin or HP UX-related matters.
However, in Java terms, it sounds like a BindErrorException [a subclass of
SocketException which is, in turn, a subclass of IOException] is occuring.
One place this can be seen is where attempts to create sockets in which both
remote and local host details are specified:
... = new Socket(remoteAddr, remotePort, localAddr, localPort);
and the 'localAddr' argument contains an invalid / non-existent local IP
address.
Without looking at code, or the specifics of the problem, there's little
more that can be said.
I hope this helps.
