That depends. What exactly are you trying to do? Are you developing an application, which you now wish to debug? Or have you downloaded one, which doesn't work properly?
Are you using an IDE (like Eclipse or Netbeans) or just an editor? If so, which one?
Is there a specific error, you get? If so, when do you get it?
The questions could go on and on... Give us some more information!

You simply put some the breakpoints and use the Debug option under the Run menu.
Or better yet, click Help->Help Contents and then click Search in the dialog that appears there and search for Debug.

I wonder why people spend so much time and effort in producing extensive sets
of help files with an abundance of explanations and pictures etc. It is never read ...
kind regards,

Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to debug a very simple COM object I developed
in VB.
I'm very new to VB and ASP so I have a lot to learn.
That said, I found what I thought was perfect article which covers this:

I want to debug my application and for that I use the step into debug command
button.
When I click on the step into command the next step ist executed. The
executed step raises some events.
Now I want to step into the EventHandlers of the raised events without
setting a breakpoint.
How can this be done?

Hi, I'm fixing a bug in an application and need to step thru the appl to find
where it's occuring. The main project includs 33 other projects each having
a .resx file in it. When I step through it would give me message that it
can't show me codes because only assembly codes are available.
Is there any good article on how to debug something like this? Also, I've
only being working with C#.net for 3 months and am still not very familiar...

Dear Great Experts,
I have a problem and need your help!
We have a Flat DLL built in C++ (CCC), and on top of it, we built another
DLL built in C# (SSS), which has .Net Assembly. CCC was imported into SSS.
Now we build applications using SSS as a reference, and we found some
problems exist in CCC.
From our applicatyion, We can Debug into SSS, but cannot go further into CCC.

I've created several DLL's that I use in other projects. I "Add Reference"
to these other projects pointing to my DLL. Probelm is, I can't seem to be
able to step into my DLL code (from these other projects) -- I've tried
adding the source code project (that was used to build the DLL) into my
current solution, but I still can't seem to step into the code of my DLL.
Any suggestion?
I must be missing something simple?

I've just noticed that the menu items available in Visual Studio 2005 for
the Debug and Build menus differ significantly when compared to the menu
items in Visual Studio 2003.
On my C# installation I don't have build solution, rebuild solution, Step
into, Step out, or the Exceptions options on my menu
Does anybody know why these important tools are missing from the menu
structure?

Hi,
I'm trying to follow Lab1 of the WF Hands On Labs.
Having created the project and set a breakpoint as per instructions, I press
F5 to compile and run the project. The instructions say that when the
breakpoint is reached I should select Step Into from the Debug menu. However,
Step Into does not appear as an option. I only see Step Over? On the Debug
toolbar, I can see the icon for Step Into but it is greyed out.

First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
