Same ResultSet results references

20 New Member
Is it okay to keep creating queries with the same ResultSet Object reference (results)? Here is what I am currently using in my Database statements with Oracle and everything works but was wondering if this is okay where I am using ResultSet results for 3 queries in my Tomcat container:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. ResultSet results = null;
  2. Statement statement = null;
  3. ......
  4.         statement = connection.createStatement();
  5.         results = statement.executeQuery("select name from tableone");
  6.         if(results.next())
  7.         {
  8.              int myvar = ....
  9.         }
  10.
  11.         results = statement.executeQuery("select food, sugar from tabletwo");
  12.         if(results.next())
  13.         {
  14.              int myvar2 = ....
  15.         }
  16.
  17.         results = statement.executeQuery("select rock from tablethree");
  18.         if(results.next())
  19.         {
  20.              int myvar3 = ....
  21.         }
  22.
  23.         ...
  24.         //close results, statement and connection object references

Yes it's fine. Just make sure you properly close all connections after you are done using them.

Hi all, I am connecting to DB2 8.1 on Solaris through JDBC type 4 drivers (driver: com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver). Problem is that when a cursored query is done, the resultset gets closed after commit (resultset.next() throws SqlException "Invalid operation: result set closed"). Is there a way to tell DB2 not to close the resultset/cursor?

Problem: java ResultSet cursor from SQL/PL stored-procedure is FORWARD_ONLY. Is it possible to have ResultSet cursors from SQL/PL procedures to scroll forward and backwards? Perhaps I am missing something. Environment: client UDB 8.1 FP9a on Win32, server UDB 8.1 FP9a on Solaris 8 (64BIT). The JDK version on the WinXP client is

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
