Read/Write Newsgroups in Java

1 New Member
I need to write a Java program that can read and write to Newsgroups -- note, not News feeds, RSS, etc... but, Newsgroups...

I'm given a server and a newgroupName... I need to be able to post to that group... and I need to be able to read the postings that are there.

Has anyone some sample code that can help? Is posting to a Newsgroup similar to posting an email message?

Please send responses to <removed> in addition to posting here...

Thanks!

I recently wrote a program with MS Visual Studio C++, sent it off to the client where it didn't run, after some probing I discover they are on a Mac! My program is a MSF interface that is really only 2 File buttons with corresponding text fields. The actual guts of the program is a C file that accepts 2 file names as arguments and reads from one file, manipulates the string and writes it to another file. Java and C syntax are very similar....

I'm writing a console app in c# and am encountering a strange problem. I'm trying to use redirection of the standard input stream to read input from a (xml) file. The following code snippet is from this app: =============================== static void Main(string args) { if (args.Length > 0) Console.SetIn(new StreamReader(args)); //executes if I don't use the "<", ">" redirection syntax when invoking XmlTextReader xmlin = new...

Consider a scenario, where one process uses mmap() to access/modify a particaular file and at the same time other process uses read/write to access/modify the same file. I wanted to know whether it may cause inconsistency or not? May be this question is out of context for c.l.c, i would be grateful if someone help me. Just a hint will do. thanx and regards......

Hi all, I have a problem with reading from a Java server after I have written to it - it just hangs. It works fine if I just write to the server and not try to write. I have read the HOWTO on sockets - and it states that there is a problem (something about flushing), but not what the solutions is. Nor do google. Can somebody please help? A few lines down you can see the example code that sums up the problem. Just change the name of...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
