Pros,

I was wondering if there is a API for generating ip address range from
a given subnet mask (VLSM).

Thanks,

Hi all, socket.gethostbyname_ex(socket.gethostname()) will return the list of IP addresses on a the local host. I did not find any function that can be used to get the subnet mask and default gateway. Under Win32, the Win32 IP helper API provides a GetIpAddrTable() function that returns information that contain the subnet mask, but that's Win32 level, and is not portable. Is there something available in the Python library for that...

Hi, I have to restrict access to a site based on IP address. While I have been able to this successfully with code in the Global.aspx file, some if the IP address are not single IP addresses but rather ranges. If I know the network ID and the subnet mask, how can I check if a given IP address falls within that range? Thanks for any help,

Hi, I need to restirict access at the page level to a range of IP addresses. What's the best approach? I thought of building an HTTP module that could compare the requesting IP with a restricted range, specified in web.config. Any thoughts? Thanks, Chris

I want to check an IP address against a given network/netmask, but I am not sure how to do this. For example: ip=192.168.1.5 nw/nm=192.168.1.0/24 = match ip=192.168.1.5 nw/nm=192.168.2.0/24 = no match ip=192.168.1.5 nw/nm=192.168.0.0/16 = match ip=10.120.12.5 nw/nm=192.168.2.0/24 = no match ip=10.120.12.5 nw/nm=10.120.12.5/32 = match

I am new to programming in C. If my question is not appropriate for this newsgroup I apologize. I Have been tasked with writing a small application to do some back end processing in C and have had little trouble getting most of the app written. What seems to be holding me up is a tricky (at least for me) piece of network address logic. I need to be able to take an ip address and compare it to a subnet represented in the doted and slashed...

Hi all, Does anyone have some code that shows an example of how to loop through a range of IP addresses? I'm using text boxes to get a start and end value for the range. I was thinking about using 4 nested for-next loops, but I seem to be having trouble working out the logic to validate the octets in the beginning and ending address so the range works correctly. i.e. 172.16.1.1/172.20.1.1 should loop 172-172,16-20,1-254,1-254...

I have an issue where I have a remote IP Address, and I need to discover the local network interface IP Address which is viewable to the remote IP Address (for UPnP document purposes). For example, if I have the remote IP Address 10.0.0.4, and I know all of the local IP Addresses: 127.0.0.1 10.0.0.5 10.1.0.20 192.168.0.5 157.54.185.126

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
