JNDI is adding a naming attribute to my add request. Is there a way to prevent this?

JNDI is adding a naming attribute to my add request. Is there a way
to prevent this?

For example:
Using LdapContext.cre ateSubcontext(S tring s, Attributes atts) with the
following:

s = "cn=bill jones,ou=dept,o =company,c=us"
atts = favoriteDrink=w ater, favoriteColor=r ed

And using ldapscope to see really what is being passed...I see not
only this String and 2 attributes, but also, the attribute: cn=bill
jones is getting passed.

I assume JNDI is trying to be kind by adding it for me...but I do not
want this. In fact making the same method call about 18 months ago,
using probably a different version of java, completed successfully. I
cannot find anything in the Java Docs on Sun's Web site that mentions
this change and how to get around it.

Any ideas or information would be appreciated. Thanks.
