trigger database changes to java beans

Hello,

I am working on a client server application involving TOMCAT as Web
server, MySQl as the DB and combination of JSP, Servlet, and JavaBeans
to access and write Data back.

There is another piece of the project (out side my scope of
development) that
writes to the Same MySQL tables and make changes to the data.

How do I write a Trigger/Store Procedure or any such mechanism that
would throw an event that the external Java Beans would catch and take
action like, fetch the changed data....

I am sure this is a very commom issue in application development and
there maybe some patterns that I need to follow.

Any suggestion will be appriciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the response Steve,

The other piece of project that writes the data is in C++ :-)
I fond an article to use JNI so the C++ object can call Java object
when the data is changed. This Java object can be a listener that
all my beans could register to and listen for appropriate event and
update data.

I think I wil take that route.

Thanks

Tushar

I suppose there might be a way to do what you're asking, but the usual model for
an app with requirements like that would be to add a middle-tier that is used by
both front-ends. I know you said the other piece was outside your scope of
development, but perhaps you need to broach the isssue to whomever has the
authority that it may be time for the 3-tier idea.

in oracle, one can rmi and socket to an external server. Otherwise,
one can always poll :)

To those familiar with Java beans, question on how to do with ASP.NET: I come from J2EE and starting to learn ASP.NET and C#. I want to find a way to display a web form filled with data taken from a SQL table. I need to repeat the layout of my web form in one single page, each time with data taken from the SQL table row. I don't want to put those data rows into a datagrid because I have my own form that I want to populate with a specific...

Hi Guys, I just want to hear your understanding of Java Beans. I mean it doesn't just expose properties (for parameters) right? Java beans must be able to do what variables can't. i need feedbacks please. Thanks Regards, Jeff

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
