height problems with columns

Hi,

I have a problem that I've been fighting with for some time and it's driving me
nuts. It occurs in Mozill and Opera but not in IE. Go to this page:

http://www.e-education.psu.edu/test.html

This is essentially two columns (divs), left and right. The content on the
right will grow over time and I want the black on the left and background image
on the right to always reach the bottom of the 'page.' Take the browser window
and re-size it such that the bottom of the window is in the middle of the news
items (so that a scroll bar is present). Then, scroll down to see the news items
that you have just 'covered up.' The purple background image goes away. It does
the same thing with a background color. Like I said, it happens on Mozilla and
Opera but not IE. The problem is that I use Mozilla. And I'd like to know if
it's possible or not to achieve the effect I want.

Thanks,
Marty

Try taking/commenting out the 'height: 100%;' property from the '#left,
#right' section. It works on Moz.

Thanks Andrew.

I did that and it worked. But here's another monkey wrench. I put some text in the left
side and now the right column doesn't reach to the bottom of the page. Is there a way
around this? I'm still left without being to guarantee that both colums will 'reach' the
bottom with all their styles, such as background color/image.

No problem, I'm glad it worked.
I'm afraid I don't know how to make the column reach the bottom... I
would like to know as well!
