webmaster novice career...

i am new to this group, yet i come here from advice. I want to start a
career in the webmaster industry. I have a computer science degree, I know
HTML, java, php, and databases well. I also know dreamweaver well.

I want to know if webmaster is a solid career in terms of working as
consultant (independent)? What about working in a company?

Is it a sociable career, meaning is there interaction with people all the
time instead of just sitting in fron the computer always?? Whats is the avg
salary annually? per hour charge??

Sorry about the questions, but I wanna be sure I'm heading the right way
Thanks,
Mike

One question; Do you REALLY want to do it.

If so, do it.

If not, don't.

If working in web development is what you want to do, then do it. Make
mistakes; learn from your mistakes; repeat until retired or rich. If you
love what you do, you can ignore any advice from anyone else. Including me,
and including this paragraph.
Regards,

Pete.

That's about as good advice as I could muster. My usual response is "it
depends." And it does. Different markets, different levels of demand... you
may be in an area where it makes sense, or maybe you'd be better off as a
janitor. If you feel it's your life calling then do it. If you think you'll
get a fat salary and retire early... well, who knows, you might get lucky.

You should have thought of all this BEFORE you spent years getting your computer
science degree.
