Hello all,
I often see html attribute values in html (spam) email preceded with
'3D'. e.g.: align=3Dleft. I'm just wondering what this is. Some kind of
special mail flavor of html, some kind of propietary code or what?
Quoted-printable encoding, sometimes referred to as quoted-unreadable.
Only unreadable if your mail client doesn't support it, or if you view
the raw message source instead of the properly rendered message.
Though I do understand what you mean; I first encountered this format
when I was a FidoNet sysop (from the late '80s through the '90s);
starting around 1989, e-mail was gatewayed between FidoNet and the
Internet, and by the '90s I began to get spam through that gateway to my
BBS, usually quoted-printable encoded (though not yet HTML format; that
came later), which my BBS software (Opus) couldn't make head nor tail of.
