Check request absolute positioning on Mac

Hi everybody,

I'm not quite sure whether this request is appropriate here; if not I'm sorry. I have finally managed to get things positioned,
scaled etc. properly. However I'm only able to check this on WindowsXP (ie 5.1 ie5.5 Netscape 7.2 Mozilla and Firefox), but not on
other browser/platform combinations. I would appreciate it if someone (anyone) would be willing to check the display of
http://home.hccnet.nl/john.mulder/temp/style_fixed.html ; I would be especially interested in Mac users (IE and Safari). How it show
be displayed can be seen at http://home.hccnet.nl/john.mulder/te..._750_fixed.gif

The page is based on http://www.alsacreations.com/article...s/g_d_fixe.htm but the problem I encountered an that had to be
solved was that the main container did not scale when the left or right column would be the longest column.

I would appreciate any feedback on this.

Thanks in advance.

John--

Mac IE isn't terribly interesting, given that it's not being developed
anymore. When considering 'GUI Web browsers', there are 4 Mac rendering
engines being developed durently: Mozilla, Safari, Opera and iCab. There
are more browsers, but their rendering is based on either Mozilla
(Gecko) or Safari (WebKit). Mozilla and Opera you can check yourself.
AFAIK the releases are synchronous on Mac and Windows these days.

Safari displays the page more or less the same as in your screenshot,
under similar conditions as your screenshot's. So it would probably look
good to you.

Or, put differently, it's a bad idea to define 'everything' in pixels
and it's possibly even worse to set the main font-size to 0.7em. (It's
also generally considered wise to always define either all colours or
none.)

That's what you get for attempting pixel-precise 'lay-out'.
