Weird stylesheet behaviors

I have a page that I just developed using a combination of stylesheets and
div layers. It uses a 'tab' style system placing four div layers in the
same space with visibility 'hidden' and position absolute. They are inside
of another parent div container with position set relative so that as I make
the objects visible, I can also set their position to relative so they
redraw the container size. The parent div is inside of a table cell that is
part of what builds the entire 'tab/index' style GUI on the webpage. In
addition to the selector tabs at the top of this table, I also included a
couple of dynamically generated tabs at the bottom that point to related
content and these bottom tabs are where most of the strange behaviors seem
to be occuring. The page can currently be seen at:

http://www.accuhomes.com/Communities/CommDet.asp

The primary stylesheet that controls the way the bottom tabs display is at:

http://www.accuhomes/styles/master.css

and the contextual stylesheet that builds the properties of the div layers
holding the content areas is:

http://www.accuhomes.com/Communities...ommunities.css

The first strange behavior that I noticed is that the .botTabCls that
includes pseudo classes for a:hover and a:active does not seem to be
applying to these links. Just the body a:hover and a:active, etc. seem to
be applying to it. But if I save the finished page after the asp code
generates it, dreamweaver does properly show those as being the dominant
style properties. (but they still don't work in explorer) I ultimately had
to reset the values for body from white to off-white as a temporary fix.

The second strange behavior someone just pointed out to me this morning.
When you first load the page, the two tabs that show up in the bottom, even
though they contain an <a href="..."> tag around them, will not work as a
link nor will the hover behaviors work at all. I thought this might have
been a result of the hidden div layers at first until I started playing
around with them (trying to set a higher z-index didn't work either).
It seems that if you change the state 'twice' by clicking any of the top
tabs that do that change of state, the links start to work. If you navigate
away then go 'back', they stop working again, but now they only need a
change of state 'once' and they start working as they should - regardless
which <div> is made visible in all cases.

It may or may not be related, but I also noticed that some permissions
seemed to be screwy on the server and I believe I have now reset all of
them. For example, I was having trouble initially retrieving the master.css
directly without getting an error

Can anyone lend me insight as to why these two behaviors may be occuring?

I've a site: http://gto.ie-studios.net/products.php that looks perfectly fine in Windows whether with IE or Firefox 1.0. But when viewed in the Linux version of Firefox 1.0, images get misaligned and breaks between then appear. Why the two different behaviors on the same browser but different OS's? Anyway, that page as an example DOES W3C HTML validate AND W3C CSS validate as well. So, there's no ERRORS per se, but I suppose there's...

The form elements present a major challenge in IE. Apparently, IE renders the legend element in odd way. In IE, the legend falls in the middle of the fieldset border; the background falls outside the border. When one set position: relative, IE chokes and does not always displays the legend element; or pushes it off the page. Negative margins do not help either since the background falls outside the border. In addition, the behavior...

I'm developing a site using CSS layout. One of the main divs contains the content, another contains the side bar. I want the content next to the sidebar so the content is floated left and the sidebar is floated right. This looks fine is Firefox and IE but doesn't in Opera ( Opera 6 screenshot - http://www.browsercam.com/projects/171753/3119279.jpg ). I can't find any reference to any bugs in Opera that would cause it to behave like this,...

Hi, I've been having a really weird problem with required field validator. Here's the detailed description of the problem: I have originally been developing my web application on Windows XP SP2 under IIS5 with .NET framework V1.1.4322. I have had a couple of RequiredFieldValidator, to ensure that the user enter the username and password on the login form and avoid unnessesary postbacks.

Hi.. I changed some of my CSS, and now I get this strange problem in IE. See link: http://xailus.com/files/sample.gif. Left is firefox, what it should look like, right is IE. The footer even varies in size if you scroll or move it around or refresh and stuff. HTML: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html>

I recently upgraded to VS2005 and converted some projects from 1.1 to 2.0 and am seeing two weird behaviors I can't seem to resolve, and am wondering if they are bugs or something I'm forgetting to do or add. (issue 1) When setting up a panel control with border settings: <asp:Panel Backcolor="BurlyWood" Borderstyle="Ridge" BorderColor="Black" BorderWidth="1px" ... Runat="server" />

Hi folks, I've come across a couple of the oddest behaviors that I have ever seen and wondered if anyone else has had anything similar, and if so, whether you have any suggestions for me. I warn and apologize to any brave souls that the following description will be long -- it has to be -- but if you feel brave enough to read it, I will thank you. Both of the phenomena seem to involve version dependencies. I had been using XP with Office...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
