Please review the page at http://www.tassie.net.au/~abell1/testoboe4.htm, which is a step on the
way to redesigning my whole site. I have used three floated menus,
two side by side and one immediately below, and have used a display:
block so that the long menus will degrade gracefully across the page
for those browsers which cannot cope with CSS.
The page seems to work as intended with Mozilla, Netscape and Opera
for Windows 2000. It works reasonably well with MSIE 6 except that
all the links referring to the same page show as visited even when
they have not been visited. I know it does not have to be this way,
because I don't have the same problem with a site I maintain at http://www.onlink.net/~outreach/index.htm
The problem seems to occur whether or not I use float, or absolute
rather than fixed position. I'm beginning to wonder whether is
triggered in MSIE by using any kind of position. Please help.

All I can tell you is that the menu display isn't really satisfactory under
Opera 7.21 or Mozilla 1.5 (K-Melion) either. Only the first two characters
of the menu items get highlighted. I'd suggest marking up you menu items
as a list. In IE6, I see the letter items and "Top of page" displayed as
visited. In Opera or Mozilla, I see none of the items marked as visited.

Thanks, Eric. I'll have to think about it. If I use long lists then
it degrades very badly when used without CSS. The links colour
problem also happens on an earlier version which did use lists.

I'd appreciate any feedback on http://www.elac.bc.ca/
particularly in regards to how the pages are marked up.
The markup is valid HTML 4.01 strict, but that doesn't
mean I've done things using 'best practices'.
The goal was to rewrite a site that previously had
used frames, had some broken links, and was authored
with frontpage. I had to use the existing content,
and the goal wasn't to "redesign", but to "rewrite".

Hi,
Since I have made changes to my website it's been a complete flop. According
to the logs, as soon as visitors have downloaded the index page they are
off. I can't figure out why?

Is there anything obvious that I am missing? Are there problems with some
browsers? Please let me know if you notice anything.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
