text clipping and other weird IE6 behavior

I have a blog script that is a customized version of Word Press
(wordpress.org) at http://www.web-ho.com/blog/

Because of the way it evolved, some of the CSS may not be the best, I have
tended to keep the default style sheet and add my modifications. The style
sheet itself is at http://www.web-ho.com/blog/layout2b.css

I use Mozilla 1.4.1 and don't see any problem, while the other member of
the team, who uses I.E. 6, has problems with formatting on two different
machines (at home and at work). A horizontal rule <hr> causes the
preceeding text to be clipped more or less randomly, sometimes across a
text line, sometimes in the middle of a word. Scrolling or reloading may
or may not clear the problem temporarily. This is currently visible for
him on the post for Friday, October 31st, 2003 entitled "I Wanna Be Your
Kazoo!" in the last two paragraphs.

There is a screen shot of a typical clipped text in that particular post
at http://www.web-ho.com/Blog/Captured-What-a-Mess.jpg

One problem he also had was with a post that began with images: the text
for that post was too big, it had lost the font size defined in the
config. This problem was solved by inserting a closing paragraph tag and
reopening a fresh paragraph between images and text: ... images </p><p>
text...

I haven't found mention of such problems in my search of the Word Press
support forum and so far nobody has offered any solution there. Is it
something others have seen and dealt with? Do any of you have similar
problems when viewing our page?

A second problem that just cropped up has to do with the first image link
at the bottom of the right hand column ("i'm on the map"). Again, I see no
problem, but whenever his mouse passes over that link, the image jumps
down by about 15 pixels, and it keeps doing so for every pass until the
image disappears into the green background below. The active link area
remains in place, however; only the image moves. The second image, the
Word Press link, is OK. The structure there is that of nested UL lists,
and is the same for the text links above, which don't seem to suffer from
this wandering illness.

Do others see the same problems? And are there suggestions on how to
minimize them until I.E. gets fixed, if bugs are indeed the problem?

Thanks for any help.

Pierre

Hello, I have a couple of things: 1) a page contains a button that has some JS code attached to it programmatically. Also the page loads a web user control with LoadControl method. In UC I have a text box where user can type some text. The weird behavior is that when user presses enter in UC textbox, the postback of the page occurs AND the JS code attached to the button is running ... why does it happen? Help anyone?

When using the (tbl).field notation for selecting a specific field from a composite field then the query returning the field is executed once per field. An example is giving below. The runtime is directly related to the number of fields accessed. The following tests is done with seqscan disabled - but I have confirmed the exact same behavior with seqscan enabled. Another side effect of this is the case where f_all_acl() actually...

I am using ASP.net (should be transparent in this case). The page is generated alright. The page has fieldset, divs and tables and other HTML elements like text box, drop downs etc; all are standards. Also, the page is formatted/decorated using CSS. Here is the issue: HTML generated is alright. Except: 1. IE the text is clipped instead of wrapping the text around inside the fieldset/div. Even the right side of the fieldsets border is...

Hello folks, I am having a really weird problem. Under windows XP, a simple C program designed to write to a file has been adding EXTRA characters to the output file. First I used "fwrite", to write, lets say, 1000 bytes in binary. The output contained 1022 bytes, even though fwrite told me (returned) that it only wrote 1000 bytes.

I ran into a weird behavior with lexical scope in Python. I'm hoping someone on this forum can explain it to me. Here's the situation: I have an Outer class. In the Outer class, I define a nested class 'Inner' with a simple constructor. Outer's constructor creates an instance of Inner. The code looks like this: ========= class Outer: class Inner:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
