Converting file folder contents into hyperlinks

I'm looking for some software that would allow me to point to a folder
in Windows Explorer, and have it output an html file with hyperlinks
to all of the files within that folder and all of the sub-folders. I
have many folders with several dozen files and sub-folders and would
like to avoid hand-coding all of the hyperlinks.

Does anyone know if such software exists?

Thanks in advance.

And this is for the www? What is the server software? I think that is
the relevant question.

You may be able to configure the server to do this for you. In Apache,
it's quite easy. See httpd.conf for documentation.

The html file would be posted on a local intranet and put on CDs. I
don't have access to the server these files reside on, so anything
server side is pretty much out of the question. I was just looking for
a standard program that will browse the folder's contents and output
an html file with hyperlinks to the various files.

Any http server will generates a html with hyperlinks when browsing a
folder, for exemple http://localhost/MyFolder/
So you can open the directory via a browser, save the html page you see, and
then open it in a text editor and make a search&replace on the beginning of
the URL (replace http://... by file:...)

I'm a .NET newbie and am beginning the process of converting an existing personal website to .NET from classic ASP. I'm assuming I want my aspx files in the root of my site in the same place as my asp files. In this way when I eventually get switched over to all aspx files my URLs will not have an extra directory name, only the extensions will change. I've got things set up and working on my dev box but have some questions.

VS.NET 2002/VB My IIS permissions and folder settings show Read and Execute only. Why is it that I can use any browser and link directly to my DLL file in my BIN folder on my Web site and download it to my harddrive (as could anyone else who wanted to)? I don't see any other settings in my host's Control Center Panel that will let me set any other properties for those folders. How do I prevent this from happening? Thanks,

At least when you've got any docs in .CHM format in the folder tree. If you drop a file called CSharpDocs.chm into a folder: \toplevel\C#\docs, you can open it, but it won't display. The # anywhere in the folder hierarchy is enough to cause problems. I spent quite a while trying to figure this out. Tried it on several systems. Even discarded some CHM files, thinking they were corrupt. This is evidently a problem with Microsoft's own...

Note: You may skip to the end of the article if all you want is the perl code. Introduction Many websites have a form or a link you can use to download a file. You click a form button or click on a link and after a moment or two a file download dialog box pops-up in your web browser and prompts you for some instructions, such as “open” or “save“. I’m going to show you how to do that using a perl script. What You Need Any recent...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
