Powerpoint presentation on website (HTML)?

19 New Member
I have a Powerpoint presentation I want to show on a website. I know that Word documents, Excel sheets etc can be showed on a HTML page, in a way so that the frame containing them is filled with this kind of document. What I really want is the ability to start a slideshow in a HTML frame (which of coures requires the viewer to have PowerPoint installed). Can this be done? (I know converting to PDF is an option, but I'd rather not go there)

Thanks, Robin

Yes!

There is a wizard in PowerPoint to help with this. I have seen it done and heard it can be done although never tried for myself (wanted to though). As you're designing the powerpoint presentation, save normally (ppt). When finished select Save As Web Page (or Save As HTML). The Wizard will guide you through all the steps (Layout, Graphics, Options, and a few others). The final step creates a folder where you specify and puts the created presentation in it.

When finished, copy this folder to where your web page is. In the HTML, enter the URL of the folder where you want your powerpoint presentation to appear (the slideshow contains and index.html so you should be good).

Hope this helps!

Alternatively you could use XML and Javascript to do some cool stuff. I won't describe it in full but the following link is class presentation slides from one of my profs.

http://www-acad.sheridanc. on.ca/~joe/PROG20799/2006/slides/ArraySlides.htm l

Check the source code. He uses <div class="presenta tion"> and <div class="slides"> . The result is pretty cool. Just like viewing a slideshow but from a web page.

Why not convert it to flash - there's plenty of third party apps out there that can do the job. For example...

It's not something I've ever bothered doing myself, but if you do a Google search for 'powerpoint flash convert' there's no shortage of apps it seems. There may even be a free one in there (or if not you could use one on a free trial to do this job!)

Hi, Is there any way to build or distribute a C# application with a Powerpoint component, so that the application can display Powerpoint presentations on PCs that do not have Microsoft Office installed? Thanks for any insight! Rgds, Manny

I'm in the middle of writing an application to display a scrolling marquee and a PowerPoint presentaion on multiple monitors. Powerpoint is unable to display more than one presentaion on one PC so I'm resorting to doing it myself. I can convert the PowerPoint file to HTML and show the presentation in a form this way, however the conversion process makes a mess of some of the more complex slides. So, is it possible to show a powerpoint...

Hi everyone, I'm wanting to use VB.NET to display a powerpoint presentation, much the same way as the presenter that comes with PowerPoint (when used on multiple monitors). Basically, I want to show the presentation in one form/window, and in the other, have controls for moving through the presentation, list of slides, etc. I don't really want code as such, more like a tutorial on how to do something like this.

Converting PowerPoint to Flash would absolutely be a good choice to distribute your bulky PowerPoint presentations. You can do the whole PowerPoint to Flash conversion manually or with professional applications. First, you'll need to prepare the PowerPoint files. Make sure you are not using any complicated gradients or animations. These will be interpreted poorly when they are brought into Flash. Also, make sure there are no objects that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
