Hi... I apologise in advance for what must surely be a regular question to this list. I have an HTML page which is being controlled by either of two stylesheets, both using absolute positioning. Under the control of one of the stylesheets the page displays with no issues, but with the other selecting text with a mouse in Internet...

Check this out. Y'all ain't gonna believe this. Only discovered in 5.01 so far. 5.5 and up is fine. http://users.rcn.com/neal413/test.html Click on one of the nav links. The links will shift down. Now click somewhere blank. Click the link again, then click somewhere blank again. Repeat to your amusement. Anyone have a clue as to what's...

Writing a form, several questions have got a list of checkboxes, with associated descriptions (mostly one word), all on a line. Eg: Describe yourself: Fat Hairy Ugly Wears glasses. I want to prevent the description word(s) from being separated from their box (represented here as ""). I want to insert some spacing between items, so that...

Hello, I'm currently designing my first 100% CSS based site. However, I've run into one issue that i haven't been able to get an answer for. So far everything looks great except for this issue in Mac IE (at least it's a browser that isn't going to be updated ever again...so maybe people will stop using it... :) I have two main...

I have a webpage with a <form> consisting of a large table grid of dropdown lists used to make changes in a database. Some of these dropdown lists have the same value. I'm trying to make it so that when a user mouses over one of the dropdown lists, that dropdown list, and all other dropdown lists having that same value are highlighted with a...

Hello I,ve got this "suckerfish menu" from alistapart that doesn't seem to work in Moz/Firebird/Net when you use the "overflow: auto;" css-style on the content below. If you hover over the links with these browsers, the menu hides when you move the coursor over the content below. In Explorer and Opera it works fine... I dont know if its a...

I don't think it's possible, but you never know: I'd like to have an image float:left, but not have the text flow under it when the window is narrowed, but flow above it... I uploaded what I have now to http://home.tiscali.nl/~elizabeth/testimageposition.html but I would like the picture to stay at the bottom, while the text flows to the...

Does anyone know about Konqueror rendering of floats? On this page http://home.tiscali.nl/~elizabeth/test-8.html the bottom left image is in place when I have the window narrowed till about 880 px wide, but as soon as I make it wider, the picture jumps two thirds of it's width to the right, covering text. Anyone know how come, or what to...

HEllo i create an HTML image dynamically using document.createElement() i dont explicitly define the 'style.position', but i assume its 'static' by default. according to CSS2 'left' & 'top' props dont apply to 'boxes' having 'position:static;'

Hello! This simple code won't work with IE. Can somebody iluminate me: why? Is it IE bug? I write it to gain possibility to move a layer (with JavaScreipt), but only within a parent (not position:absolute) layer. Or maybe there is a better way than a position:relative to do it? <div style="width:100px; height:50px; border:4px solid red;...

I made a page that has some divs that I would like to line up next to each other. I used percentage values to set their positions and sizes, but in IE6 there are breaks in between them and I can't figure out how to get them to line up. The page displays fine with Mozilla, and it also does not have this problem if I use pixels to specify the...

Hi everyone! I'm working on the following web site: www.cool-walls.com It's my first venture into building a page with css rather than tables. I can get it to look ok on IE 6 on a PC, but I know it's not working on NN 7 (PC) and IE or NN on the Mac. This is how it's supposed to look: http://www.cool-walls.com/coolwalls.pdf.

Hi, I have set up a print-friendly stylesheet (print.css) for a website which is built as a frameset (made up of a top and bottom frame). When going to File/Print Preview in IE6, bevelled margins around the whole page appear. How do you remove these? I know it has to be something to do with the interaction of the frameset with the...

Hi! I hit a bug in IE 6. I have nested divs which contain backgrounds. Some of these backgrounds are positions at the bottom. Now it happens, that the background is placed at the bottom in the div *following* the one it's defined in. It seems IE 6 is taking the height of both divs together. If I place the nested divs inside a table it...

Hello, I've made myself an online portfolio site, at http://cv.joeblade.com/ - in IE 6 and Opera 7.23, it displays exactly as I want it to, but in Firefox, there are problems with the image that *should* be below the list of contents - it's appearing *underneath* the list of contents instead, and I can't quite work out why. If anyone could...

I'm having a weird refresh problem with a background image in IE 5.x for Windows. The problem is summed up here with screen shots: http://jimroyal.com/ie5_problem.html The background image becomes jumbled when the page is first viewed or refreshed. However, if you click any link, and then the Back button, the page is rendered correctly.

I am new to CSS. My task is to add a table and frequently used link on the right hand side. Here's the html code and css, I really appreciate if u can copy and paste and take a look. It looks fine if the user doesn't resize the browser. When the user resize the browser, the "Frequently Used Link" and "Table 1" and "Table 2" will shift to the...
