HTTP status 12007 when using IP address

1
Hello,

Currently I'm using the next snippet in my code

sURL = "http://192.168.100.7/services/retrieveData"

objHTTP.Open "GET", sURL
objHTTP.send

The result for code is an objHTTP.Status = 12007 (The server name or address could not be resolved).
I've already figured out, that when an entry is added to the hosts file, e.g.

192.168.100.7 hostname

the URL "http://hostname/services/retrieveData" does lead to a correct response.

This workaround however, is not very suitable to implement in my application. Since the user is able to select a range of IP-addresses from a combo box, it would mean I had to add every single IP-address to the hosts file.
I've already tried to add the IP-address to the list of trusted sites, but without any success.

Is there anyone who can give me an explanation for this behaviour?

Thanks
