Hello,
I have just been to come2linux
http://www.come2linux.org/psp/
and succesfully tried
http://www.tntnet.org/
it really works, I have also experimented with apache and it is no problem to handle a small network with 2 PCs, linux running two different instances of apache and two different instances of tntnet C++ server pages,
Also the router was tricky, through network address translation and port address translation I got it up and running with one public IP, and 4 different port numbers. Which means I can host 4 independent web sites.
I highly appreciated the perl tutorial, or database tutorial by Blair Ireland
presented on this URL
http://www.thescripts.com/serverside...ram/index.html
My problems are like this,
I can't get an ftp server correctly up an running.
not even between two PCs, on suse I used the akamai download manager to download 4gb isos for vista, with a tremendous long fine name
vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x64fre_client-lr1cxfre_en_dvd.iso: Value too large for defined data type
I could not transfer that from one PC to the other, which i needed because of that I only have one dvd burner.
small files can be transferred,
here is the log in
[morten@localhost ~]$ ftp 192.168.0.4

I know how to use put and get, but would highly appreciate an ftp tutorial, which also discusses the topics about when I have a router and only one public IP. I have applied for an url name by dyndns, but got no reply, each time I restart I have a different IP address and have to call up a friend to verify that it is still working.
It was impossible for me to use the vsftp or very secure ftp server.
Even on a class C LAN,
However I had once started solaris and put that unixbox in the DMZ,
that worked. But that is not the way it should be.
I find many texts and excellent documentation of apache, but very little useful documentation about the different ftp servers, active and passive mode.
where to start, doing ftp troubleshooting,
my linux box is suse 8.2. running on intel,
My favourite URL to this topic is here
I have read it again and again, but simply woun't work,
especially not if I attempt to transfer a vista iso of dvd size.
Any hints please ?
