Hello,
I'm learning Python from Python Bible, and having some
problems with this code below. When I run it, I get nothing. It
should open the file poem.txt (which exists in the current
directory) and count number of times any given word appears
in the text.
#!/usr/bin/python

Ok, here's a new one that I can't find a definition for on the NET.
I'm reading an article at
http://www.dotnetjohn.com/articles.aspx?articleid=72 which mentions writing
'bespoke code'.
Anyone know what this is?
Thanks,
Marc Miller

I've tried various ideas on this problem, but I don't see word wrapping.
Can you point out what is wrong? It's a K&R exercise, and I'm still new to
programming. Other pointers would be helpful too.
#include "header.h"
/* does the wordwrapping */
void fold(char buffer, int len)

I have a few quetions about definitions vs declarations concerning
defined types (user defined), specifically classes. From what I
understand, a class contained in a header file is a definition as a
whole, but the contents a.k.a members, are the declarations (non-inline
functions). What I'm trying to understand, is, is storage allocated or
not allocated for them at this phase? Next, the members implemented in
a .cpp file, for the class,...

I've know that Microsoft don't currently recommend this process, what
I'm trying to find out is why?
This is a feature that I've used (with Classic ASP) in the past with a
great deal of success.

As I am learning about XML I seen that xmlns is used with a colon after
it as if it were a namespace itself. However, I have never seen a URI
given for it. Is "xmlns" a sort of predefined word in that all XML
software just knows what it means without it needing a URI?
Are there any more of these special words that need no definition within
any schema? I know there are other special words like "element" and
"targetNamespace" but these...

Hello,
Sometimes declarations are all what we need when we define/declare
classes (or functions?), but sometimes we need definitions. I learned
that if we define a class (B) that has an object (a_obj) of a class
type (A), then we need to define A as well, but if B has a pointer to
A, then we only need to forward declare A. I was told this is because
the compiler needs to see the implemenation of A when allocating
memory for a_obj. ...

Is it not allowed to have template function definition in a .cc file?
Here is the scenario. The tempage function declaration is in a header
file and the definition in a .cc file. The function is called in main
which is in another .cc file. With g++ compiler, this fails to
link.However, it compiles if the template function definitioin also
included in header file.
Is there a way with g++ to force template function in .cc file?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
