2 questions:
when someone becomes a friend, it seems posts are seen by everyone looking at one's profile page? so how private is that?
last week i was asking about adding a signature to my profile, and it was suggested that i send a PM to one of the administrators. how do i do that?
thank you, sambacat

At the top of the page you will see your username and then next to it a link to "Inbox". Click on the inbox and then in there you can send a new PM message. One alternative is to go to the Admin or Mod's page and click the "Send Message" link.
As for you privacy question, I just want to understand, are you worried that anyone can pull up a list of your posts? That is something that has been in the feature list for a very long time. It kind of goes a long with "if you don't want it seen, don't post it.". The posts here are for everyone to learn from, not for only one person to see.
If I didn't answer your question, please let me know.

Jeff

As I understand it, she's not talking about posts but visitor messages. Indeed, these are not private, but they're different from PMs. So send a PM to someone, follow the instructions Jeff gave you or go to the persons profile, click on the ">>" Symbol and choose "Contact Info". There you can "Send a private message to <username>".
Greetings,
Nepomuk
nepomuk and numberwhun... i AM asking about private messages, which is what i thought i was sending, but are showing up under "visitor messages" in the sendee's profile. will check out your instructions in a little bit, jeff.
thanks, both, for your support..... sambacat

Hello. Sorry for crossposting, but i didn't have a better idea as to
where to post the question.
I'm using certificates to sign and encrypt SOAP messages, using WSE in .Net.
I want to do the following:
1) Generate a certificate to the system store.
2) Export the certificate from 1) to a file with only the public key, and
then import the file as a certificate into the system store, but on another
computer.
3) Export the certificate from...

Public Private Key Pairs - How do they work?
-----------------------------------------------
I was looking at a presentation recently in which it was suggested that -
User 1 Encrypts a message using User 2's Public Key.
User 2 Decrypts the transmission using his Private Key to get the orignal
message.
Is the above correct?

I have a POD type with a private destructor. There are a whole hierarchy of
derived POD types, all meant to be freed using a public member function
Destroy in the base class. I get warning C4624. I read the description,
decided that it's exactly what I want, and ignored the warning.
Now I'm trying to inherit using a template. Instead of "destructor could
not be generated because a base class destructor is inaccessible", I now
have an...

I am having a perplexing issue and am wondering if anyone can see the
flaw in my setup.
I have 3 windows services and 3 message queues. Each service resides
in the same directory and they all have a reference to the same dll(a
private assembly (although it does have a strong key)). The class in
this assembly takes the name of the message queue to monitor in its
constructor. Then the instantiated class constantly reads the queue

Can someone help with the following problem. I am sending an encrypted SOAP
message to a .NET 2.0 + WSE 3.0 web service. When .NET attempts to decrypt
the message it cannot read the private key of the X509 token it requires (or
so it says). I have followed the instructions in the error message and given
the userid full access to the certificate. I have also tried running .NET
under my administrators userid which was used to create the...

Hi, I'm using c# and asp.net
In my website, I have tab in my tabcontainer for example - contacts.
There it shows me a listbox/something like that, which shows my contacts - online and offline contacts.
Now then I click on a contact - I want to send him a message. So I have a send message linkbutton for the simplicity of understanding my purpose.
Now , when I click on it , I want a new window to be opened. That would be the private page of...

Structure of my application is:
1. Message is dispatched to an application
2. That application puts the message in a private queue
3. Another application reads messages from this queue and then calculates the receivers (pager) for this message and then puts single message to different private queues based on receiver types (pager carriers)
4. In the end different receiver console applications are set using MSMQ Triggers such that...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
