Hi,
We were going merrily along for 6 years using this database to record
all client checks that came into our office, including information
about what the checks were for.
Suddenly, network computers cannot access the database.
The message is...

I tested a FE/BE application developed in A2000 on a A2002 machine and got
this message when exiting the app. Clicking the only available button "OK",
exits the application, as intended.
The FE is just the mdb, not an mde. FE and BE are in different directories
on the same machine.
Are there settings, preferably via code, that I can add to stop this error?
Thank you for any help.

i have split my database and created a code that will look up for the
location of the mdb back end everytime the front end link has change.
i'm wondering if there is a way to just create and INI file to store
the location of database backend. 'cause it's very time consuming
sometimes when u change the front end (i.e. the query, forms, reports,
etc) from other computer and when u update the mdb files from other
machine it will look up again...

Hi,
I`m in the process of migrating a Access 2002 (Run in 2000 mode) from
Windows 98 to Win2K Server. It is a shared resource via a file share on
the 98 Server. Client systems are Win98 with the shared drive mounted
and the application run via the shared drive.
I have tried once before, but came across some file locking issues. I
thought i had addressed these file locking issues, but it came apparent
I hadn't when data started to get...

I've got a site set up that uses a network share as it's home directory.
Simple stuff is working fine.
When I try to put a database in there, though, I run into problems.
I'm using:
dim dbconn,sql,dbcomm
dbconn=New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; data
source=" & server.mappath("test.mdb") & ";")

Here is the situation: I wrote a VB programm, which stores all the
information in a single Access database file using jet engine. It
worked well, however one of my customs reported that there was some
problems with this programm. I checked, the log files showed that the
database was corrupted.
The customer told me that there no 'illegal' operation such as pull out
the plug, or kill the programm via task manager...
So is there any...

I've been playing around with new (for 2.0) membershp functionality.
I was able to build a simple login form that secures a directory on a
project I built locally on my development desktop.
However, when I attempt to follow the same steps on the remote test
server (a website I access via filesystem security accross my lan ).. I
get the following when I attempt to select the security tab from the
administer selection of the login...

Hi newsgroup!
Can anyone tell me where I should put a simple Access database file in
order to be accessible for every computer in the network (same
workgroup)? There does not need to be any protection (I heard people say
that I should buy a dedicated server or have special rights for each and
every user, but I can keep it simple since there will be no intruders -
no internet connection available -).
I don't think that the "Programs"...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
