I am on a project where I am converting COBOL to C++ on the mainframe.
I am new to COBOL and have a lot of questions - any websites or any
suggestions from experienced people will be really appreciated.
My main issue is with the CALL routine - I have to call a external function
which I believe is Assembly. Right now the call is made using 4 structures
in COBOL.
To convert to C++ - what should I be concerned about, should I pass 4...

Hi I need someones help
I'm working in an IBM 390 batch environment.
What I'm trying to do is to call from a non DB2 COBOL program a DB2 COBOL
program that will access a table and perform an edit. I have several
programs to add this to and I thought of adding a common subroutine versus
adding duplicate code would be easier to maintain. The problem is from the
calling COBOL program to the calle COBOL program I get a -924 (which is no
DB2...

Hi!
In our company we have a huge amount of COBOL sub-routines that are
called from other COBOL-programs.
Now we are looking for a method to call them from Windows/Web
applications.
One idea is to wrap the sub-routine call in a DB2 stored procedure and
call the procedure from our Web application.

i grab quotes now and again for use as footers to e-mail
here in CubeLand. found this one in the stash:
the logic exercised by the database to maintain referential
integrity is not free, but if the rdbms does not do
it, it gets done in the application, where it costs the
same if not more - just now the application becomes
"slower" versus the rdbms.

I am trying to convert an existing COBOL app from using exclusively
tradional I-O (READ verb) to using a mix of traditional and and SQL.
Please don't ask why, my question is conceptual. After populating a
cursor from table A and displaying on the screen, a user makes a change
to record #2. The program tries to read record #2 using traditional
COBOL READ COMMAND in order to update it, yet gets an INVALID KEY
condition because the record...

Hello,
Now that I have my C program running and my COBOL programming running, thanks to the support here. Now I need to pass a 16 position number to the C program and receive back a 64 position 'hashed' variable back. Yes I am doing SHA256 hashing.
When I pass my variable from COBOL and the C program received it then the argv shows only 14 positions with the first 2 positions missing. Also the agrv shows the name of the COBOL program...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
