The Intel C++ version of STLFilt (my STL Error Message Decryptor
utility) has now been updated to support Intel C++ 8 (currently in
Beta) along with version 7. All three MSVC libraries are supported,
yielding a total of six supported Intel C++ / MSVC lib combinations.
Best results, however, are achieved by sticking with the MSVC 7.x
libs.
A version designed for use with the generic EDG front-end "demo"
compiler is now available (libcomo...

Lately, I have been having a bear of a time trying to acquire a Linux driver
for my S3/ProSavage chipset -- but that quest is now almost at an end as I
have located a noble band of people who are pushing the envelop with S3 and
Savage chipset drivers!
Though my quest might sound like food for trolls to mock Linux -- hear me
out. I think I have discovered part of the message of the new Linux
economy. Many of us have criticized the...

Hi,
I am testing the Intel 8.0 Compiler for Linux. For all the sources I have compiled It produces a lot
faster code than the GNU g++ compiler. However, I must have something wrong, since I can't use the
-ipo and -xW options for interprocedural optimization and Pentium4 optimization, which is supposed
to give a lot of speed up on top.
When I add the -ipo switch everything compiles ok, but then I get the linker error:

What would be the C++ compiler producing the fastest code for Windows
XP Pro (32-bit)? I have to choose between these two:
- Visual C++ 2005 compiler
- Intel C++ Compiler 9.0 for Windows
My previous experience with older versions of these two compilers told
me that Intel code was running faster than MS code. But now that I am
about to upgrade, I would lile to pick the one producing the fastest
code (things may have changed!).

Hi,
We are currently installing a DB2 V9 ESE on a Linux server
(RHEL4U4-x86_64). Installation runs successfully on each node. Database
user environment is OK and the instance is well created. To be sure,
we've started the database with db2start =successfull. And then shut
it down again successfully too.
The tricks appears when we switch the hp MC/ServiceGuard (A.11.16 for
Linux) package to the other node... the database does not want...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
